# WHY do we need this?

**Chicken Saga** is inspired by the cultural significance of cockfighting in various regions, reimagined through a modern, eco-friendly, and strategic lens. Our goal is to provide an immersive experience where players can explore unique gameplay mechanics, including NFT ownership, breeding, and combat.

**Cockfighting** has a long history, especially in places like Southeast Asia, where it became a cultural tradition for thousands of years. It spread globally, finding popularity in ancient Greece, Rome, and across Europe and Latin America. Despite its deep roots, the practice is undeniably cruel—roosters are often equipped with blades or sharp spurs and fight to the death or serious injury. This has led to bans and strict regulations in many places as people recognize the inhumane treatment involved.

The good news? We can pivot this tradition toward something better. **Chicken Saga** is an example of how we can bring the spirit and strategic excitement of cockfighting into a digital space where no animals are harmed. Through web3 technology, players can now care for, breed, and battle their virtual chickens while preserving the cultural essence without cruelty.

Moving to a digital platform means embracing modern ethics without losing the thrill and community of the sport. It’s proof that traditions can evolve, keeping the fun while respecting life.
